DIXIE INN, La. -- A Webster Parish sheriff's deputy was injured Tuesday night while helping a motorist. Sheriff Jason Parker said one of his deputies was out of his patrol unit on U.S. Highway 371 north of Dixie Inn assisting another driver. The driver of an oncoming vehicle hit him while he was directing traffic, Parker said. The deputy was transported from the scene by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. A second person also was taken to the hospital. Parker did not want to speculate on the condition of his deputy. He asked community members for their prayers. State troopers will investigate. More information will be provided when available, Parker said.
