Watch out for possible scams

A local businessman who does not want to be identified but never less is a very reliable source says he is concerned about a possible scam in the area. According to the source he has learned of several times here in the Jasper Area where two people have reportedly stolen jewelry, watches or other such items at great discounts. However, he says the only problem is that the items are fake. In fact, it is being reported that some the items that are sold as gold or not gold at all but instead cheap metal. According to the source, the items are being sold by a man and woman who are driving a white car and telling everyone that they are broke and desperately need money. Local residents are advised to be leary of anyone wanting to sell rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches or other jewelry and greatly reduced prices. Another scam that is reportedly going on in the Jasper Area involves electric bills with someone offering to reduce your electric bill for a small fee. Police say you should always check out such claims without before making a deal with anyone.
