The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office announced in a Facebook post on April 1, the office’s cold case department is re-opening an investigation into the beating death of 19-year-old Alicia “Allie” Rose Carver and the attempted murder of 14-year-old Barbara Ivey on September 11, 2002.
In their post, VPSO describes the crime scene as, “one of the most brutal ever witnessed by many law enforcement officers within Vernon Parish.”
Authorities said that cold case detectives will continue to follow leads and conduct interviews relating to the case.
