The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a driver killed in a one-vehicle crash Saturday on I-10 in Vidor. The driver is identified as 41-year-old James McNeil of Orange. DPS says a preliminary investigation reveals that on Saturday at about 6:20 a.m., a 2004 Ford Expedition was traveling west when the driver failed to control his speed and struck the 861-exit collapsible barrier. McNeil was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Justice of the Peace Joy Dubose Simonton. A passenger in the Ford Expedition, identified as 35-year-old Henry Gonzales of Orange, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he was at last word, still undergoing treatment.
