The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Department says what began as a vehicle pursuit on Thursday morning became a ground search for the suspect. The department said their bloodhound tracking dogs were deployed in the Evans Community, about io miles east of Burkeville. The department said the chase started and ended near Evans, with the suspect crashing behind a church and then fleeing on foot. He was last seen south of the post office in Evans. Sheriff Sam Craft says the suspect is believed to be wearing blue jeans and a dark colored hoodie. The department is asking residents in that area to remain alert and call them at 337-238-1311 if they observe any suspicious persons in the area.
