Vehicle leaves road and breaks electric pole knocking out power

The driver, who was not identified, said he had just got off work when he apparently fell asleep, losing control of the late model GMC sport utility vehicle. The vehicle was severely damaged, but no injuries resulted from the incident. Workers from the City of Jasper's Electric Department arrived at the scene within a short time and immediately went to work making the necessary repairs. Crews worked continuously without taking any breaks or delays and at 8:37 pm power was restored. Many said it was unfortunate that the incident occurred, but the good news was that no injuries occurred as a result of the wreck or the emergency repairs. it was also a stroke of good luck that temperatures were moderate, and the outage did not occur on a hot or cold day.
