Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A man has died after being struck by a car while he was mowing.

According to Nacogdoches police, the incident happened in the 100 block of Northeast Stallings Drive at 5:13 p.m. Monday. Callers told dispatchers that a passenger vehicle had left the road and struck a man.

Sgt. Brett Ayres said that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Stallings Drive and confirmed that it left the roadway, striking the man who was mowing grass. The NPD Investigations Division responded to the scene to assist in the investigation and collect evidence.

The road was closed for north and south bound traffic for several hours after the crash, but has since been reopened. Investigators anticipate having to close down traffic on Tuesday for several hours to complete their on-scene investigation.

Traffic updates will be posted on the department’s official Facebook page, Ayres said. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of extended family.
