Fire officials in Newton County are looking closely at a weekend vehicle fire. It happened shortly after 10:00 Sunday morning on Highway 87, about 3 miles north of Burkeville.
Burkeville Fire Chief Charles Duckworth said a late model Chevrolet pickup truck was found burning, and he said the circumstances of the incident resulted in the blaze being labeled as suspicious.
On Monday, a dog from the State Fire Marshal’s Office was brought in to sniff out possible accelerants as investigators searched the burned out vehicle for clues.
