VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Van Zandt County grand jury has indicted an Illinois man accused of murdering a woman on I-20 last September. Jason Rashad Williams, of Danville, Illinois, was arrested on Sept. 19, 2023, after allegedly fatally shooting Caitlin Elizabeth, 31, of Louisiana, in what was believed to be a road rage incident. On Dec. 15, Williams was indicted for murder by a grand jury. In the original case, Williams was driving an 18-wheeler when he allegedly opened fire on the vehicle carrying Elizabeth, two female family members and a baby. Elizabeth was struck by the gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. After his arrest, Williams said he had been in an altercation with a female subject in a white car about 20 miles before the traffic stop, according to the affidavit. Witnesses from the scene reportedly said they watched Williams’ 18-wheeler cut off the car carrying Elizabeth several times before the shooting. Williams is set to appear in court for the first time on Jan. 30.
