The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department announced Wednesday that the bodies of two drowning victims had been recovered from Toledo Bend Reservoir. This followed a Wednesday incident in which a pontoon boat capsized during heavy wind and waves from a thunderstorm. Four people on the boat survived while two drowned. The drowning victims have been identified as Macy Richard, 27, and Jerilyn Hebert, 57, both of Opelousas. We’ve also learned that the people were on a chartered boat which was carrying five customers and a fishing guide.

The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department says a pontoon boat capsized and sank at Toledo Bend Reservoir late Tuesday morning. Four people swam to safety, while two people drowned. The incident occurred in the Pirates Cove area on the Louisiana side of the lake. There were heavy winds and thunderstorms approaching the area at that time, but it’s not known if the weather played a direct factor in the incident. At last word, state and local officials were working to locate and recover the bodies of the two that drowned.
