The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department has released new details about a murder in Buna. At about 2:30 on Wednesday morning, the body of 18-year-old Arthur Logan Faver Orosco, of Buna, was found on the shoulder of Highway 96 near Tractor Supply. Deputy Karli Cherry says Orosco had died from multiple gunshot wounds, and deputies recognized him due to encounters with him in the past. Cherry said that investigators obtained information from multiple sources which led them to execute an evidentiary search warrant at a house in Buna where Orosco had recently been living. According to Cherry, evidence was collected and further investigation revealed that Orosco was with Cody Dwayne Vann the night prior to his death. Vann is also 18 and also a resident of Buna. Deputy Cherry said it was ultimately determined that the pair had been in a verbal disturbance, which was followed by Vann allegedly shooting and killing Orosco. Vann was arrested and charged with murder. Bond was set at $1 million dollars and he remains in the Jasper County Jail.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the discovery of a body and an alleged murder. Deputies say the investigation began early Wednesday morning when the body of an eighteen-year-old was found lying on the shoulder of Highway 96 in Buna. According to Deputy Karli Cherry, the discovery came shortly after 2:00 in front of the Tractor Supply Store. Deputies have identified the deceased as Arthur Logan Orosco, of Buna. The suspect has been identified as Cody Dwayne Vann, also 18 and also of Buna. He has been charged with First Degree Murder and Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Brett Holloway set his bond at $1 million dollars. Deputy Cherry says a Justice of the Peace has ordered an autopsy. However, Newman says Orozco died from a gunshot wound. A possible motive for the killing has not yet been disclosed by investigators.
