UPDATE: Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond has identified the officer killed as Chatéri Payne.
Officer Payne graduated the police academy in November 2018.
Chief Raymond says they are still looking for those responsible for Payne's murder.

The Shreveport Police Officer's Association confirmed that a female officer was shot and killed Wednesday night.
A post on the union's Facebook states "We have lost one of our own. She was young, and she was beautiful. She was proving herself to be a capable professional, dedicated to serving the Citizens of Shreveport. We lift her family in prayer, and we thank you for allowing her to be a part of us. We stand ready to assist her family and her Academy Classmates."
The name of the officer has not been released.
The officer was off-duty at the time of her shooting. She was headed to work to start her shift when the shooting occurred.
Sources tell NBC 6 News and Fox 33 the officer was shot four times. The most serious injury came from the shot to the head.
“Yesterday was law-enforcement appreciation day. Sadly, Shreveport wakes up painfully aware of the " said Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins.
"This is a tragic loss not only for the Shreveport community, but for all of us who rely on police officers to keep us safe. May we all pause and take a moment to pray for this officer, her family and friends and the entire @ShreveportPD" said Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.
It happened around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday night.
At one point in the evening 54 first responder units were at the scene.
She was transported to the hospital, and that's where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
Police do have someone detained for questioning. It remains unclear if they are searching for any other potential suspects.

Shreveport police are responding to a shooting in the 1600 block of Midway.
Police have confirmed that a female police officer was shot in the head.
According to police, the officer was not on duty at the time but heading to work.
She has been transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport with life threatening injuries.
Shreveport's Mayor, Adrian Perkins, and Police Chief, Ben Raymond, were on the scene and later headed to the hospital to be with the officer.
