The Jasper WalMart reopened shortly after 11:00 Tuesday morning.
The store had been closed for several hours after Jasper Fire Chief Brandon Duckworth said workers had mixed chemicals which caused fumes in the building.
The incident occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. when it was reported that the strong presence of chemical odors has set off a smoke detector.
Chief Duckworth said that upon their arrival firemen soon determined that the strong irritating odor was coming from a machine used to clean floors.
The Walmart Store remained closed following the incident as the building was aired out and the chemical vapor dissipated.
