A Campti man is dead following an SUV crash in Natchitoches Parish Saturday night.
According to State Police, Zantere Smith, 32 was traveling south on LA Highway 153 around 7 p.m. when he lost control of his SUV, a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Troopers said Smith's vehicle left the right side of the road and collided with a tree. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Troopers said Smith was not wearing a seat belt. They collected a toxicology sample to submit for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
