A Tyler County man is dead following an early Tuesday evening accident in Mont Belvieu. Police there have identified the man as 22-year-old DaMichael Brooks, of Doucette. According to Mont Belvieu Police Chief Jimmy Ellison, Brooks was driving a 2005 Saturn Ion and disregarded a stop sign on State Highway 146. The small car was then hit on the driver side by a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck. Ellison said Brooks was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to a Houston hospital where he died. Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
