Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford says deputies had to fight a man and he pulled a knife and tried to stab them before they could finally wrestle him into custody. It happened on Monday afternoon at a location on County Road 4580 in the Fred Community. Weatherford said it started with deputies responding to a complaint about the man trespassing and tampering with a game camera on the complainant’s property. As deputies were at the scene, Weatherford said the suspect, 50-year-old Daniel Crafton, of Silsbee, appeared and created a disturbance with the homeowner. Weatherford said deputies then tried to detain Crafton, but instead he began threatening them and wouldn’t adhere to their commands and fled to the porch of a nearby home. It was at that point that Weatherford said the deputies had to fight him and he pulled a knife and was trying to stab them until they got him into custody. Crafton has since been charged with:
~ Evading Arrest
~ Resisting Arrest
~ Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant
~ Criminal Trespassing
Tyler County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Tina Self set his combined total bond at $320,000.00.
