Tyler authorities arrest suspect who barricaded self in home

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Tyler police arrested a man after a standoff in which he barricaded himself into a home Tuesday. According to Tyler Police Department PIO Andy Erbaugh, the Fugitive Task Force was serving a warrant for the U.S. Marshals at a residence on West Jackson Street and Britton Avenue when the suspect barricaded himself in the home. Around 2 p.m., authorities were attempting to remove the suspect from the home. Around 2:20 p.m., Mark Tyrone Johnson was taken into custody. EMS and firefighters were reportedly en route to the home for decontamination after gas canisters were deployed. A later update revealed that a Tyler police officer saw the suspect and recognized him as a man being pursued by the U.S. Marshals. The officer called in other agencies for backup, and witnessed the suspect retreat into the home. One other person has reportedly been seen at the residence. The Tyler Police Department was called to the scene, and SWAT members were present with a BearCat enforcement vehicle as well, Erbaugh said.
