Nothing stays the same especially when success is a part of the formula. Ty Robinson Woodville’s Head Coach and Athletic Director is leaving the Eagles and will assume the same position with the Crawford Pirates after being named to the position by the Crawford School Board. Robinson was a top coaching candidate after taking the Eagles to the 3A Division 2 State Championship last December.
Robinson who has been at Woodville for 9 years has an impressive record of 79 wins and 28 losses with Woodville winning five district titles and three of those outright. The crowning achievement was leading the 2024 Eagles to a 13 and 3 record and the school’s first ever appearance in the state title game. The Eagles ended as State Runner Ups, but it was a season to remember.
Robinson was the Super Gold Coach of the Year by the Beaumont Enterprise and the Eagles Tayvion Hunter was the Super Gold Defensive player of the year and the Willie Ray Smith Defensive Player of the Year.
The Crawford Pirates have a long history of winning football including a state championship in 2004, but of late, the Pirates have not been as successful. Robinson who came to Woodville under similar circumstances will attempt to turn the Pirates around as he did with the Eagles.
Woodville will now be searching for Robinson’s replacement who will step into a much better circumstance as the Eagles will be retuning many players from last year’s successful state runner up team.
