TXDOT proposes a 25 mile "relief route" for Hwy 69 in Tyler County

The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing to build a 25 mile long “relief Route” for U.S. Highway 69 between Colmesneil and Warren in Tyler County. Information from TXDOT says that it would be a 4-lane highway with service roads. According to TXDOT, the proposed highway would provide greater hurricane evacuation capacity, and improve safety on Highway 69 due to the current rate of traffic, including 18-wheelers hauling various goods. Because this would be an entirely different stretch of highway than the existing Highway 69, land would have to be acquired through eminent domain tactics.
