Two people injured in Sunday afternoon crash

Two people were at last word undergoing hospital treatment for the injuries they received in a two-vehicle auto accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon on the north side of Jasper. Police and emergency crews were sent to the intersection of Highway 96 and Martin Luther King Boulevard shortly after 2:oo when it was reported that the two vehicles had collided. Complete details and other information is not available, pending completion of the investigation and a report but officers believe the crash occurred, when a Mercedes sport utility vehicle, that was southbound on Highway 96, collided with a Honda sedan, which was headed north Highway 96 and about to turn west on Martin Luther King Boulevard. Police said the driver and one of the passengers in the Honda were treated at the scene and then transferred to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. Officers said the driver of the Mercedez and his passenger were not injured. It was first thought that the driver of the Honda had been thrown from the vehicle. However, police later said he was pulled from the vehicle by three men who were at a nearby home and saw what happened. Officer said the men cared for the driver until the ambulance arrived.
