Two Louisiana Motorcyclists Injured in Texas Wreck

KJAS in Jasper reports that two Louisiana motorcyclists were critically injured in an accident on Saturday, March 6, 2021, that involved multiple motorcycles.

About 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Burkeville firefighters were dispatched to the scene on Highway 87, about 4 miles north of Burkeville. The Texas Department of Public Safety investigation revealed that a 2005 BMW was traveling southbound on Highway 87 when the driver entered a curve at a high rate of speed and lost control of the bike causing it to leave the road and hit several trees.

Two other motorcycles crashed into each other as they attempted to go around the first accident. The driver of the 2005 BMW motorcycle, 68-year-old Aaron LeBlanc of Louisiana, was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial hospital.

The driver of a 2020 BMW motorcycle, 68-year-old Neil McAskill of Louisiana, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with what was thought to be serious injuries.
