Two people were injured in an early Wednesday evening crash just north of Brookeland. It happened shortly before 6:00 on Highway 96 near the Jasper/Sabine County line. According to Texas Department of Public safety Sergeant Shana Clark, Addison Murphy, 17, of Brookeland, was driving a Nissan Altima northbound when she went into the southbound land and collided with an 18-wheeler, which was driven by Athan West, 52, of Silsbee. Sergeant Clark said both drivers were taken by ambulance to Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill with non-life-threatening injuries.
