Two different high-speed pursuits of same suspect ends just east of jasper

Two different high speed pursuits of the same suspect, which began in the Golden Triangle, ended just east of Jasper on Friday. According to Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins, it all began late Friday morning when one of his officers began chasing a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder SUV that had been reported stolen from a business in the Rose Hill Acres Community, which is between Lumberton and Beaumont. The chase entered Jasper County on Highway 96 at speeds up to 130 miles-per-hour and passed through Evadale, Buna, and Kirbyville, and then into Newton County. Officers lost track of the suspect on a county road between Kirbyville and Newton. However, shortly before the noon hour they were able to "ping" the suspect's cell phone to determine his location, and DPS Trooper Calvin Starkey discovered that the suspect was then driving a white Jeep on Highway 63 between Jasper and Burkeville. It was later learned that the Jeep had been stolen from a location on County Road 3017, also known as Baptist Encampment Road, in Newton County. The chase started up again with the suspect headed towards Jasper, but just as they reached the intersection of Highway 63 East at Farm to Market Road 776, Jasper County Deputy Cal Morgan put an end to it by the striking the front of the stolen Jeep. The suspect, who was identified as Bradley Brister, 3o, of Vidor, was then taken into custody. Later on Friday afternoon law enforcement officers found the stolen SUV. Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby says that his department will be filing a charge of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle on the suspect, and it's expected that a plethora of other charges will be filed by the several different law enforcement agencies involved in the incident.
