Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

SHREVEPORT, La. - Two females were arrested this week after police say they left young children unattended. Officers responded Tuesday to a welfare concern in the 4300 block of North Market Street and found two children under the age of five left unattended inside a home. Deasia Brown, 26, was arrested and charged with two counts of child desertion. The previous day, officers found a 10-month-old child left unattended in a vehicle in the 4305 block of Illinois Avenue. Shawnetterian Pearson, 23, was arrested and charged with one count of child desertion. "The Shreveport Police Department would like to remind the public that children should only be left alone if they are capable of fending for themselves. This includes the ability to call for help if needed and perform basic tasks to avoid dangerous situations. Small children should never be left to supervise other small children," Cpl. Chris Bordelon said in a news release.
