A man and woman are in custody after leading state troopers and deputies in a pursuit on Wednesday night. Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Karli Cherry says it started when a trooper tried to stop the pair on a motorcycle on Farm to Market Road 252 between Jasper and Kirbyville. They’ve been identified as James Butler, 26, and Hallie Tarver, 22, both of Kirbyville. Cherry said the motorcyclist outran the trooper, but a deputy soon located it on the driveway of a house. At that point Tarver tried to flee on foot, but she was quickly captured along with Butler. James Butler was charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Display of Fictitious License Plates. Hallie Tarver was charged with Evading arrest, and she was already named in a Jasper County warrant for Bail Jumping. At last word both remained in the Jasper County Jail.
