A very big drug arrest has occurred southwest of here. Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne says on Tuesday his deputies stopped a wrecker truck for a traffic violation on Highway 124 in Winnie. Hawthorne said the deputies discovered 4.5 pounds of cocaine concealed in a toolbox on the truck. That amount of cocaine has a street value of about $244,680.00. Arrested were Pedro Gonzalez and Jody Morgan, both residents of Crystal Beach on the Bolivar Peninsula. Each man has since been charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Gonzalez was also charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.
