The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department says there were no injuries after a freight train hit an 18-wheeler that was stuck on the railroad tracks on Friday. It happened on tracks that run parallel with Highway 171 in front of Pickering Elementary School, nine miles south of Leesville. The truck, a Kenworth, was pulling a box-trailer which was loaded with what appeared to be boxes of food products.
