VERNON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - Two Leesville residents are facing several drug charges following a months-long investigation by the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force.
On March 9, authorities arrested Imelda Rivera Acosta, 27, and Linda Escobar, 45.
Narcotics agents pulled the pair over and found illegal substances in their vehicle, the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the pair’s home in Leesville.
During the search of their vehicle and home, authorities found the following:
- About 50 THC vapes
- Various THC Products
- About 682 ecstasy tabs (MDMA)
- 920 grams of marijuana (About 2.03 pounds)
- 56 grams of cocaine (About 1.98 ounces)
- 128 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms (About 4.52 ounces)
- $1,300 in cash
- One pistol
Acosta was arrested on the following counts:
- Possession of a Schedule II drug, with intent to distribute
- Possession of a Schedule II drug
- Possession of a Schedule I drug (MDMA)
- Possession of a Schedule I drug (28 grams or more)
Escobar was arrested on the following counts
- Possession of a Schedule II drug, with intent to distribute
- Possession of a Schedule I drug, with intent to distribute
- Possession of a Schedule II drug
- Possession of a Schedule I drug (28 grams or more)
Both are being held at the Vernon Parish Jail. Escobar’s bond was set at $51,135, while Acosta’s was set at $50,500. VPSO said an immigration detainer was also placed on Acosta.
Investigators said additional charges are expected.
