Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby says what began as checking on the welfare of a resident on Thursday turned into the recovery of a tractor that had been reported stolen in Galveston County.
Burby said a deputy was on the call in the 5300 block of Farm to Market Road 2460 in the Bon Wier area when a 2020 Kubota tractor was found, and it was learned that the tractor was stolen out of Dickinson.
The tractor was picked up by Jasper Xxon Towing & Recovery.
Meanwhile, Sheriff Burby says the case remains under investigation as his department works with police in Dickinson.
