Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said Monday that two volunteer firefighters from Evadale had a close call when the emergency vehicle they were traveling in blew a tire causing the vehicle to leave the road and turn over. Havard said the incident occurred shortly before 7:00 on Monday evening on Farm to Market Road 105 as the two firemen were responding to a medical call.
Havard said that after the left tire blew, the truck struck a culvert, causing it to go airborne and then land on a fence in front of a home.
The two fireman inside the Med Truck were reportedly treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont for additional treatment for what was said to be non life threatening injuries.
