Beaumont Police say one person is dead and two others are hospitalized in very critical condition after all three overdosed on fentanyl late Wednesday night. Officer Haley Morrow says it happened at about 11:30 in the 2300 block of Tyler Street in the north end. Officer Morrow said the three males were on the back patio of the house. Officers and paramedics used Narcan in an effort to reverse the effects of the drug. Meanwhile, paramedics began CPR on one man, but he died at the scene. Police say the victims had purchased what they thought were narcotics in pill-form and took them, not realizing that they were actually counterfeit and laced with fentanyl. Police say less than 2 milligrams of fentanyl can kill a person.
