A tragedy in Tyler County on Monday morning as three people – including an infant – were killed in an accident. It happened shortly before 7:00 on Farm to Market Road 96 in the Fred Community.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said it occurred when a small car slid out of control into the opposite lane and was hit by an SUV. The deceased victims were all in the car.

Sergeant Clark has identified the dead as:

Jacob Hutson, unknown age, of Lumberton (driver)

Christina Gray, 18, of Silsbee

River Hutson, 4-months-old

According to Clark, investigating troopers said that Jacob Hutson was driving a 2009 Honda passenger car northbound when he went off the highway and then came back onto the highway sliding sideways into the southbound lane where the Honda was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet SUV.

Clark said the three in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the SUV, Shannon Daffron, 28, of Spurger, was taken to a Beaumont hospital for treatment.
