Three people were injured in a late Saturday morning crash just south of Buna. Emergency responders were sent to the intersection of Highway 96 at Business Highway 96 at about 10:00 when it was reported that two vehicles had collided. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark, a 2022 Jeep Cherokee was northbound on Highway 96 and a 2021 Volkswagen passenger car was on Business Highway 96 at the stop sign. Clarks said the driver of the Volkswagen pulled out in front of the Jeep which then hit the car on the driver side. Sergeant Clark said both drivers and also a passenger in the Jeep were all transported by ambulances to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
They were identified as:
Volkswagen driver - Alisa Gillespie, 53, of Buna
Jeep driver - Charles Foster, 52, of Bon Wier
Jeep passenger - Myoshi Foster, 54, of Bon Wier
