Three DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department employees overcome by fentanyl

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Department about 100 miles northeast of Jasper in Mansfield, Louisiana says three employees of the department are undergoing hospital treatment after being overcome by fentanyl. Meanwhile, the department’s headquarters has been closed down as a haz-mat team works to clean the building. A press release from the department said it happened at about 11:30 Monday morning. The release said “an evidence supervisor was found suffering from possible exposure to fentanyl. While assisting him, two other employees were exposed.” According to the release, all three were transported to a hospital where they’re all listed in stable condition. Medical experts say Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid and just 2 milligrams of the drug, which is the equivalent of 10-15 grains of sand, will kill a person.
