Thousands of partiers caused problems in Polk County

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Polk County Today is reporting that a weekend gathering of approximately 4,000 people in a small community 25 miles northwest of Woodville has left Polk County officials to deal with the aftermath, including a damaged road. Meanwhile, nearby residents complained about the noise during the event and the mess left behind. The report said that the event was initially planned to be held in Houston. However, the City of Houston would not allow it, so it was instead moved to the small community of Moscow. The report said attendees were consuming large amounts of alcohol and blocked traffic on U.S. Highway 59, along with tearing up a county road with their vehicles. Additionally, the Polk County Sheriff's Department had to bring in off-duty deputies and they worked day and night through the weekend trying to quell disturbances.
