This week has been tough on patrol cars

On Sunday evening a late model Dodge patrol car owned by the Jasper County Sheriffs Department was in a tragic, two vehicle, auto accident at the intersection of US Highways 190 and 96. The car was totaled. However, that was not the end to the unit. It received another damaging blow on Tuesday evening, when the shed it was being stored in was knocked down by high winds as severe thunderstorms passed through the Jasper Area. Two water skis were also damaged but fortunately no one was injured when the roof of the building owned by Jasper Xxon Towing and Recovery near the intersection of Highway 63 West and Farm to At about the same time the building collapsed, winds at the Jasper County Airport less than a mile away were being clocked at 29 miles per hour out of the northwest. At KJAS a total of 2.45 inches of rain was recorded. However, just to the west of Jasper a resident of the Curtice Community said just over 5 inches and one resident of Dam B received over 7 inches of rain.
