Health officials in Louisiana are now reporting there are 31,600 cases of coronavirus reported in the state. There have been 2,213 deaths reported (73 probable deaths). All of Louisiana's 64 parishes have reported cases.
In Central Louisiana, as of May 9, the cases are:
Allen Parish: 90 cases, 9 deaths
Avoyelles Parish: 74 cases, 7 deaths
Beauregard Parish: 46 cases, 4 deaths
Catahoula Parish: 85 cases, 2 deaths
Concordia Parish: 43 cases, 4 deaths
Evangeline Parish: 67 cases, 1 death
Grant Parish: 18 cases
LaSalle Parish: 33 cases
Rapides Parish: 362 cases, 13 deaths
Natchitoches Parish: 100 cases, 9 deaths
Sabine Parish: 17 cases, 1 death
St. Landry: 215 cases, 50 deaths
Vernon Parish: 18 cases, 2 deaths
Winn Parish: 52 cases, 2 deaths
Currently, 1,324 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. Of those, 161 patients require ventilators.
Presumed recovered as of May 2: 20,316
A person is presumed recovered if:
1) it has been more than 14 days since he/she tested positive and he/she is not currently in the hospital or deceased (when hospital status is known), or
2) it has been more than 21 days since he/she tested positive and he/she is not deceased (when hospital status is unknown).
LDH will update recovery data weekly on Mondays.
As of May 8, 57.40% of COVID-19 deaths in Louisiana occurred among African Americans, and 40.40% occurred among white residents. The top three underlying conditions among COVID-19 deaths are hypertension (52.67%), diabetes (32.61%) and chronic kidney disease and cardiac disease (18.44%).

Female: 44.40%
The state reported a 58-year-old with underlying health conditions being treated at Touro Infirmary in Orleans Parish died Saturday, March 14, marking the first death in Louisiana.

Gov. Edwards announced March 11 he signed an executive order to declare a public health emergency for the state to help local governments handle the situation and in an effort to prevent price gouging.
