The Texas University Interscholastic League has announced that all student-athletes from Burkeville and Hull-Daisetta who were involved in a large fight during a basketball playoff game last month have been suspended from any UIL sanctioned activities for the rest of the school year.

The brawl broke out during the first quarter of the game and also involved spectators who came out of the stands and spilled onto the court.

After the fight was finally broken up, the rest of the game was cancelled.

Meanwhile, the athletic programs of both schools and Burkeville basketball Coach Aaron Hallford and Hull-Daisetta basketball Coach Trent Wallace have been placed on probation for two years. Each school is also required to teach the student-athletes a UIL program known as “The Texas Way” which deals in sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
