Texans Go to The Polls on Tuesday

Early voting has come and gone and now it’s time for the people of Texas to go to the polls on Tuesday, which is election day.

Here in Jasper County a total of 2,731 people voted in early with 2,456 voting as Republicans and 275 voting as Democrats.

The polls across the state will open at 7:00 on Tuesday morning and will remain open until 7:00 that evening.

Locally here in Jasper County there are only two contested offices that everyone is watching.

In the north end of the county the incumbent commissioner of Precinct 2, Roy Parker is seeking re-election to his seat, but is challenged by two other candidates.

Keven Holloway, who is a deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is running for the job.

DeMarcus Holmes is also seeking the spot. Holmes, who is a Jasper City Councilman is also seeking re-election to his seat on the council.

Parker and Holloway are both running as Republicans and Holmes is running on the Democrat ticket side of the ballot.

In the south end of the county, the incumbent, Vance Moss decided not to seek re-election. However, Dennis marks and Kevin walker, jr. are seeking the seat. both are running on the Republican ticket.

Local voters are reminded to carry some source of legal id such as a driver’s license to the polls for security.
