Teenager shot, Jasper Police working to identify a suspect

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Jasper Police say a teenager is undergoing hospital treatment after he was shot twice late Wednesday night. Lieutenant Josh Hadnot says it happened shortly before 11:00 at the Pioneer Crossing Apartments on South Bowie Street. Hadnot said officers arrived to find 17-year-old Corday Jones with two gunshot wounds to his back. According to Hadnot, Jones and his family had just recently moved here from Dallas. Jones was first taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital and then taken to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Hadnot said investigators are still working to identify a suspect in the crime, and Interim Police Chief Mike Poindexter said Jones is not cooperating with the investigation.
