One teenager was killed and two others were injured in a Tuesday morning crash in Jefferson County. It happened shortly after 7:00 on Highway 69 near Spurlock Road in Nederland.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by 17-year-old Marino Veliz, of Port Arthur, was northbound at a high rate of speed when Veliz lost control of the vehicle. The car went off the roadway and flipped over in a ditch.
Veliz was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two passengers were transported to a hospital. The names of the passengers have not been released. The only information known about them is that they were from Port Arthur.
A Justice of the Peace has ordered an autopsy in the case.
