A Buna teen is reported to be undergoing treatment following a shooting incident that occurred late Wednesday afternoon in the south end of Jasper County.
Deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department and other emergency crews were dispatched to a home in a trailer park located just west of Highway 96, on the north side of Buna, shortly before 6:00, when it was reported that the incident had occurred.
Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department said the 15-year-old victim, who was said to be in critical condition, was rushed by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
What happened is not known. However, Duncan said it appeared that the gun was in the hand of a 10-year-old child when it fired and that the incident was still under investigation.
