Teen accused of making bomb threat against school

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A 14-year-old has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat Wednesday (June 5) at Fairview Alpha Elementary School in Natchitoches Parish.

It was about 10:56 a.m. when sheriff’s deputies responded to help an NPSO school resource officer with a report of a bomb threat at Fairview Alpha Elementary in the 1400 block of U.S. 71/U.S. 84 in Fairview Alpha, the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) reports.

The SRO said there were at least 62 people — including summer school students, teachers and support staffers — there when the campus was evacuated.

“A thorough search of the school premises by deputies and firemen did not identify any evidence or credible sources of a threat to students and staff,” the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Detectives’ investigation did lead them to a person of interest, a student who was on campus. The juvenile is charged with communication of false information of a planned arson. The youth was taken to Ware Youth Center near Coushatta.

Personnel with Natchitoches Parish Fire District 9 and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS also responded to the call and staged near the school.
