CAMPTI, La. (KALB) - Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a 50 year-old man from Campti on April 22.
A resident in the 900 block of Hwy 3163 called 911 at around 10:20 a.m. after they allegedly heard gunfire and discovered damage to the rear window of their car.
Upon arriving to the scene, NPSO said they found a man who seemed to be having a mental health crisis. NPSO said they established a perimeter around the house after the man refused to come outside and allegedly made threats to law enforcement.
Detectives, the Natchitoches SWAT Unit, a trained negotiator and EMS were sent to the scene.
At around 3 p.m., the man was taken into custody without further incident, was evaluated by EMS and then taken to the Natchitoches Detention Center on the following charge:
- Aggravated criminal damage to property
NPSO said further charges are pending. Sheriff Stuart Wright released the following statement:
“We are in the early stage of this investigation. We are grateful that all of our deputies and SWAT team members are safe. We will release additional information as it becomes available.”
