Suspects in stolen truck rammed a deputy during pursuit, managed to evade capture

Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford says two men in a stolen pickup truck rammed a patrol car and managed to escape capture in a wild early Monday morning pursuit. According to Weatherford it all began at about 3:00 when deputies responded to a house on FM 1013 in Spurger where it was reported that two Hispanic males were trying to steal a vehicle. However, before their arrival the vehicle owner confronted them and they fled in a truck that was stolen out of Bronson. Weatherford said deputies soon spotted them and they began fleeing northbound on Highway 69 at speeds up to 110 miles-per-hour. The sheriff said they managed to miss a Woodville police officer’s spike strips and eventually turned down a road going into an oil-pump site where they rammed through a locked pipe gate. Weatherford said they then turned around and rammed a deputy’s patrol car. The pursuit picked back up again on Seneca Road, however, Weatherford said the engine in the deputy’s damaged patrol car began to overheat so he had to terminate the pursuit. Now investigators are working to identify the suspects.
