A suspect has died following an officer-involved shooting in Groves, according to information Justice of the Peace Joseph Guillory II provided to KFDM/Fox 4 News. The officer wasn't hurt. The judge says the suspect was taken by ambulance to the The Medical Center of Southeast Texas where he died. Judge Guillory says the man was 60 years old and lived in Groves. He died at about 2:20. The judge has ordered an autopsy. The Texas Rangers are assisting in the officer-involved shooting investigation, according to information Groves Marshal Norman Reynolds provided to KFDM/Fox 4 News. Marshal Reynolds says the shooting took place shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday in the 2800 block of Main Avenue near 25th Street. "The individual was armed with a gun and posed a threat to the officer," Marshal Reynolds told KFDM. "I have no concerns about the officer's decision to use force. The decision was justified."
