Nederland Police say a man is jailed and charged after several shots were fired during a struggle over a gun at a church event for children. It happened Sunday afternoon during the Pumpkin Patch event at Nederland Apostolic Church on 27th Street.
One woman had minor injuries when she was hit by shards of glass as one of the bullets hit a salt shaker, but miraculously no one was struck by the gunfire.
Police say it started on Saturday when 48-year-old Jeremy Pitman got into a disturbance with a woman at the church, and then on Sunday he showed up with a gun as families were enjoying the fall event.
Pitman has now been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Aggravated Kidnapping. His bond is set at a combined total of $100,000.00 and at last word he remained in the Jefferson County Jail.
