Statewide Burn Ban Lifted After Nearly a Month

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

On Thursday, April 23, the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal (LAOSFM) lifted a statewide burn ban that had been in place for nearly a month.

The ban was initially issued March 24 to supplement Governor John Bel Edwards’ stay-at-home orders amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Residents are urged to remain aware of and compliant with any local restrictions that might still be in place, and to follow the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s guidance on legal open burning materials.
