State police investigating allegations against recently resigned DeRidder mayor

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Louisiana State Police has opened an investigation into Misty Roberts Clanton, who resigned as DeRidder mayor over the weekend. While KPLC has learned the nature of the allegations, state police are not yet providing details about the investigation. Sgt. Ross Brennan said the investigation is at the “very beginning.” The DeRidder City Council has called a special meeting for Tuesday, July 30, to discuss whether to open an investigation into Roberts. The council called the meeting on Friday, July 26, the same day Roberts announced she would be away from city hall for two weeks and appointed Fire Chief Ken Harlow as mayor pro temp.
