Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

The Sabine River Authority has revealed their plans to build Sabinetown Park, which has been dubbed as a 'World Class Fishing Tournament Venue on Toledo Bend". According to the SRA, the park will be at the end of Bayou Fork Road North, off of Farm to Market Road 83, about 8 miles northeast of Hemphill. An artist's conceptual drawing, prepared by the Fort Worth firm of Freese & Nichols, shows a 6-lane boat ramp, parking for approximately 3oo vehicles, pavilions, public restrooms, and other amenities. According to the SRA, the facility will accommodate recreational boating and fishing along with fishing tournaments. The SRA says construction will begin this year and the project will be built in phases with the first phase focusing on the fishing tournament venue and road access improvements.
